Garold R. Spindler, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer
Garold Spindler serves as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of
Coronado Coal, LLC. Over more than 30 years in the coal industry, he has
held a number of key executive positions with some of the world’s
largest coal companies, including: Chief Executive Officer of UK Coal,
President and Chief Executive Officer of Amax Coal Company (USA), and
President and Chief Executive Officer of Pittston Coal Company.
Mr. Spindler has managed operations in the United States, Australia,
Canada, and the United Kingdom. He was the 2010 recipient of West
Virginia University’s Distinguished Engineer of Mines, and the 2008
recipient of the Erskine Ramsay Medal Award of the Society of Mining.
Garold Spindler has an industry track record of high sales and earnings
growth with full profit and loss responsibility. He holds a Bachelor of
Science and Master’s degrees in mining engineering from West Virginia
University and an Master of Business Administration degree from Stanford
James Campbell, President and Chief Operating Officer
James Campbell serves as President and Chief Operating Officer of
Coronado Coal, LLC. He has more than 36 years of proven management,
operating, and sales experience within the United States coal industry.
Throughout his career, he has successfully assumed progressive positions
ranging from underground foreman to chief executive officer. In addition
to his operating and management experience, he has extensive knowledge
of the metallurgical coal trade.
Prior to joining Coronado Coal, Mr. Campbell held several key positions,
including: Chief Executive Officer of Black Diamond Resources,
Owner/Managing Operator of Spring Creek Energy, Executive Vice President
of Pittston Coal Company, and President of Coal Sales for Pittston Coal
Group. He is a past member of the Board of Directors for the West
Virginia Coal Association and former Chairman of the Virginia Coal
Council. He holds a degree in mining engineering from West Virginia
University, a civil engineering degree from West Virginia University
Institute of Technology, and an Executive Master of Business
Administration from the University of Virginia.
David Hegger, Chief Financial Officer
David Hegger holds the position of Chief Financial Officer for Coronado
Coal, LLC. He brings with him a successful track record with strong
financial management, corporate development and operational
capabilities. He has extensive experience related to internal and
external financial reporting in accordance with generally accepted
accounting principles and Securities and Exchange Commission
Prior to joining Coronado Coal’s management team, Mr. Hegger worked for
Peabody Energy, Inc., holding the position of Vice President of
Mining-Business Development, Senior Vice President of Old Mutual (US)
Holdings, and Chief Financial Officer of Black Diamond Resources. He is
a certified public accountant and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in
business administration and Master of Business Administration degrees
from Southern Illinois University.
Jeff Bitzer, Vice President of Operations
Jeffrey Bitzer serves as Vice President of Operations for Coronado Coal,
LLC. He is a senior manager with verifiable year-after-year success
achieving revenue, profit, and business growth objectives within
start-up, turnaround, and rapid-change environments. He has 35 years of
experience in operations management involving all aspects of coal mining
with an excellent technical background involving safety management,
environmental compliance, cost control and analysis, production
management, reserve evaluation, quality control, and process
Prior to joining Coronado, Mr. Bitzer held several key positions
including President and General Manager, Manager of Contract Operations,
and Director of Engineering for Arch Coal, Inc., Vice President and
General Manager for Magnum Coal Company, and Vice President of
Operations for United Coal Company. He is a licensed West Virginia
professional engineer and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in mining
engineering from West Virginia University.
Robert Cline, Vice President of Engineering
Robert Cline serves as Vice President of Engineering for Coronado Coal,
LLC. He has been involved in all facets of mining engineering including
mine logistical development, mine permitting, geotechnical exploration,
underground and surface mine design, and preparation plant design and
upgrades. Prior to Coronado, Robert held the positions of Vice President
of Engineering for Black Diamond Mining, Owner/Managing Consulting
Engineer of Beaver Creek Engineering & Environmental Services, PLLC, and
Chief Mining Engineer for Massey Energy, Inc., in West Virginia.
Mr. Cline is a licensed professional engineer in West Virginia and
Kentucky and a licensed West Virginia professional surveyor. He holds a
Bachelor of Science degree in industrial engineering from West Virginia
University and a Master of Mining Engineering degree from Colorado
School of Mines.
Garry Groves, Vice President of Human Resources and Administration
Garry Groves is Vice President of Human Resources and Administration for
Coronado Coal, LLC. He is deeply experienced in all aspects of human
resources management and is familiar with the challenges presented by
both greenfield asset development and acquisition restructuring relating
to the coal mining industry.
His background includes extensive involvement in human resources, labor
relations, organizational management, recruiting, and public relations
management, as well as management of loss control, insurance, security,
and asset management programs. Mr. Groves holds a Bachelor of Science
degree in business management from West Virginia University Institute of
Technology and a Master of Science in Industrial Relations from the West
Virginia College of Graduate Studies.
Aaron Price, Vice President Safety
Aaron is Vice President of Safety for Coronado Coal, LLC. His
background includes, Bachelors in Science in Environmental Science and
Safety Technology from Marshall University. Graduated in 2001,
received Certified Mining Safety Professional certification in 2008.
Has 16 years of mining experience.
Pete Ritchie, Vice President Sales &
Pete Ritchie is the Vice
President of Sales and Marketing. He brings more than 20 years of
engineering, sales and quality control experience to the team.
His background includes extensive knowledge with quality control, coal
preparation, blend modeling and metallurgical sales.
Prior to joining Coronado, Mr. Ritchie held several key positions
including Director of Sales & Quality Control at Patriot Coal and
Manager of Quality Control at Peabody Energy.
